MacDonald-Miller: Mechanical Engineer and Mechanical Contractor
A four-story glass enclosed atrium serves as the entrance to this 300,000 sq. ft. building, connecting all four adjacent floors through open balconies. MacDonald-Miller, in concert with Yantis and Associates, designed HVAC fan terminals and diffusers as a sound-masking system to inhibit cross transmission of noise between offices in this open-concept office building.
Project Overview
- Two 300-ton custom roof-mounted chilled/hot water air-handling units.
- Chilled water fan coil units in functional ancillary support spaces and equipment rooms for 24/7 operations.
- Full heating and cooling capability with multiple hoods serving the 9,000 sq. ft. commercial kitchen, servery, and cafeteria.
- The air handling system doubles as an active smoke control system for the atrium by eliminating the need for additional fans.
- A 120-foot long, continuous floor supply grille served by a 60-in diameter underground duct provides supply air to the atrium.
