Boeing 777 Facility
MacDonald-Miller: Mechanical Contractor
This 10,000 sq. ft. expansion created two wing spar clean, seal and paint booths for Boeing 777 airplanes in the middle of the world's largest building. A strong emphasis was placed on safety for this project due to the large ductwork as well as the elevation where the work took place. The equipment was set in place by helicopters.
The installed system consists of a laminar flow supply and isolated supply hoses for working in the wing spar. Several exhaust systems, made from stainless steel, aluminum, galvanized sheet metal, and even 1/4" plate metal, were fitted for different phases throughout the painting process. Because of the location in the building, services were provided via underground tunnel ventilation ducts and 60" risers up 130', running horizontally through the structure and up through the roof.
