MacDonald-Miller: Mechanical Engineer and Mechanical Contractor
REI's flagship retail building is 140,000 sq. ft. containing office space, an auditorium and cafeteria, along with retail space. Four-levels of below-grade parking garage total 140,000 sq. ft. The project included the complete design and installation of the HVAC and plumbing systems.
The building was fitted with 260 tons of rooftop VAV units complete with variable speed drives. The retail area has a unique 80-foot high climbing rock in the glass atrium. The atrium is passively cooled with secondary air from the office/retail space. A carbon dioxide monitoring system was installed in the parking garage.
